Auguste Rodin (1840-1917) created numerous splendid statues.

He also sculpted Beethoven in a medallion for the Royal School of Music of Brussels. This sculpture dates from 1874.

It would seem that Rodin was inspired by another bust created by Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824-1887)…The façade of the community theatre in the town of Ypres notably presents a medallion in relief of Ludwig van Beethoven.
